This policy explains what personal information Lijobi collects when you use our website or contact us, why we collect it, and how you can control it. It also explains how we use cookies.
We built Lijobi for people who are often far from Rwanda when they first reach out to us. You are trusting us with your contact details and sometimes your plans for a home or an investment. We take that seriously, and we have tried to write this policy in plain language.
This policy applies to the Lijobi website, our WhatsApp and email channels, consultation bookings, and any forms you complete with us. It covers buyers, renters, investors, property owners, developers and anyone else who contacts us.
Lijobi is the trading name of Lijobi Ltd, a company registered in Rwanda (company code and TIN 156876020). Lijobi Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. That means we decide how and why your information is used, and we are responsible for protecting it.
For anything to do with your personal information, you can contact us using the details above.
We only collect what we need to help you find, rent, buy, list or invest in property.
Information you give us
Information from others
Sometimes a partner broker, developer or property owner passes us your details because you asked them to connect you with Lijobi. We may also receive information from people who refer you to us.
The law requires us to have a valid reason for each use of your information. The table below sets out what we do and why.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
We share your information only when we need to, and only as much as is needed.
Lijobi is based in Rwanda and follows Rwanda's Law No. 058/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy. Under this law, personal data is generally stored in Rwanda unless the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) has authorised storage or transfer outside the country.
Our website is built and hosted on Webflow. Information you submit through our website forms is stored by Webflow in the United States, and Webflow uses service providers based in the United States to run its service. Webflow encrypts this data in transit and at rest, and handles it only on our instructions under its data processing agreement. You can see Webflow's list of service providers on its Subprocessors page.
Some of the other tools we use, such as email, may also store information outside Rwanda. We are registering Lijobi Ltd with the NCSA as a data controller, and we will make sure any storage or transfer of your information outside Rwanda has the authorisation and safeguards the law requires.
We keep your information only as long as we need it.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. These include secure (HTTPS) connections on our website, restricted and password-protected administrative access, limiting access to people who need it, and choosing service providers with appropriate security.
No website or system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify the NCSA within 48 hours as Rwandan law requires, and we will tell you where the breach is likely to put you at risk.
Please be careful about what you send by WhatsApp or email. Do not send identity documents or financial details unless we have asked for them through a channel we have confirmed with you.
You have rights over your personal information. You can ask us to:
To use any of these rights, contact us at Olabode@lijobi.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days, or tell you if we need more time and why.
